“Korrespondent” magazine in the frameworks of the TOP 100 annual project named 100 the most influential people of Ukraine. The first line of the rating received Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych, who heads the Party of Regions. The second place receives President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko. Cultural differences: Ukraine and USA

As a visitor from the United States to Ukraine, I have encountered a few striking differences in our cultural customs. These differences have sometimes led to brief moments of awkwardness, but ultimately to a personal admiration of Ukrainians. Firstly, behavior towards strangers is very different from what I am accustomed to at home. For example, I was taught as I was growing up in Houston, Texas that it is polite to smile at people I encounter on the streets, even if they are strangers that I will never see again. Ukraine decree 31 is destructive to the development of energy resources - Rob Bensh, President of Cardinal Resources

Rob Bensh, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Cardinal Resources, a member of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) in Washington, contacted the USUBC about a major problem that has developed concerning the sale of gas by companies involved in Joint Activity Agreements (JAA) in Ukraine. A new Cabinet of Minister`s Decree (Decree 31) forces such companies as Cardinal to sell gas only to the government of Ukraine and at prices far below the competitive market price. The decree, which is part of the Budget Law drafted by Finance Minister Azarov and approved by Prime Minister Yanukovich, is very destructive to the private development of energy resources and to private international investors in Ukraine. Ukrainian Killed In Road Accident In Turkey

A Ukrainian citizen was killed in an automobile accident on the Antalia-Belek road in Turkey in September 7. The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced this in a statement, a text of which Ukrainian News obtained. According to the statement, the Ukrainian citizen worked as a guide for a tourist agency. His body is scheduled to be sent to Ukraine in a coffin on September 10.
