Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada deputies of the 5th convocation closed their session in the parliament. Chairman of the fifth parliament Oleksandr Moroz announced this. Moroz marked that the parliamentarians retain their right to gather for sessions. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on September 20 morning, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the fifth convocation gathered to consider draft state budget for 2008 despite of the President Viktor Yuschenko and opposition consider the parliament powerless.
President Victor Yushchenko welcomes the support by Ukraine’s main political forces for his plans to reform the national army and make it professional, according to the President`s press-office. He believes such an army will strengthen the country’s defense capability and protect its interests in the world and says the Armed Forces of Ukraine “have been the most trusted state institution over the years of independence, and the people’s trust in the army has even been growing in the past several years.” As supreme commander-in-chief, Yushchenko wants to reform the post-Soviet military system but thinks these reforms should be planned and introduced carefully. President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has signed a decree on appointment of Oleg Lytvak as his advisor. The text with the corresponding decree is on the official site of the Head of the State. Oleg Lytvak was born in 1949. He is a member of Ukrainian party “Unity”. In 1987-1992 he worked in the Prosecutor’s General office of the USSR, after that he took position of the deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Also, he headed the National bureau of investigations. In 1997-1998 he was acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine. He is deputy chairman of jurists Union of Ukraine.
The European Commission for Foreign Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, asked Ukraine to give up visa requirements for Romanians and Bulgarians, in order to help the adoption of the special visa regime between the European Union and Kiev, according to Mediafax, quoting the Ukrainian News Agency online.
The commissioner added however that the EU is not conditioning Ukraine’s accession to the World Trade Organisation on the elimination of visa …

A Ukrainian citizen was killed in an automobile accident on the Antalia-Belek road in Turkey in September 7.
The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced this in a statement, a text of which Ukrainian News obtained.
According to the statement, the Ukrainian citizen worked as a guide for a tourist agency.
His body is scheduled to be sent to Ukraine in a coffin on September 10.
