Roma - Dynamo 2:0 In First Round Of Group Stage In UEFA Champions League

September 19 the Italian football club Roma won over Dynamo (Kyiv) 2:0 in the first round of group stage of the UEFA Champions League in Rome.

The referee Alain Hamer from Luxemburg serviced the match.

Roma chief coach Luciano Spaletti fielded goalkeeper Doni (Brazil), left winger Max Tonetto, right winger Marco Casetti, holding midfielders Juan (Brazil; substituted by defender Matteo Ferrari in the 82nd minute) and Philippe Mexes (France), midfielders Daniele De Rossi, Laberto Aquilani (substituted by midfielder David Pizarro (Chili) in the 83d minute), Simone Perrotta, Taddei and Mancini (both from Brazil; forward Ludovic Giuly (France) substituted Mancini in the 61st minute) and forward Francesco Totti.

Oleksandr Demianenko, chief coach of Dynamo Kyiv, fielded goalkeeper Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, left defender Badr El Kaddouri (Morocco), right winger Marjan Markovic (Serbia), central defenders Serhii Fedorov and Goran Gavrancic (Serbia), left winger Oleh Husev (substituted by Carlos Correa (Brazil) in the 71st minute), holding midfielders Taras Mykhaliuk and Ayila Yussuf (Nigeria), forwards Ismael Bangoura (Guinea; substituted by Diogo Rincon (Brazil) in the 45th minute) and Maksim Shatskikh (Uzbekistan).

The hosts took some advantage from the very beginning of the game and the first created chance was realized into goal – in the 9th minute Perrotta completed Tonetto’s long shot from the left wing.

In the 69th minute De Rossi led Giuly face to face with Shovkovskyi but the goalkeeper saved Kyivans though in a minute Totti outplayed them and scored Roma’s second goal from within the penalty box.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Dynamo Kyiv’s opponents in the group stage of the Champions League are Roma, Manchester United (England), and Sporting (Lisbon, Portugal).

The first two teams in the group will automatically qualify for the next round while the third will drop into the UEFA Cup.
